Boho Baby

Author: msmona  //  Category: Tips

In honor of the vintage fashion show I’ll be attending this weekend, I’m posting my new favorite 70’s style Boho outfit, along with the coolest statement I found online (click on the image above to read it)!

I picked up this gorgeous paisley-patterned gem at Clothes Mentor in Plano.  The embroidered bib is just what it needed to pull all of the colors together on this $8.00 masterpiece.  Yep, you read it correctly, only 8 buckaroos! :)  Couldn’t pass on these cute faux lace up shoes at Target (hello, $7.48) and a fun pink bow beanie at Kohls ($4.80).  Can you say, “Super Shopping”?!

OK, so I had to splurge a little for my tailor to create some elastic cuffs, but now they won’t get caught in the dirt when I’m planting my herb garden…yeah, or in my hair while working up some sweet dreadlocks…he he! 🙂

In business and at home, what styles do you lean toward on a regular basis?

The Brilliance of Blue

Author: msmona  //  Category: Tips

Whenever I see or wear this turquoise blue color, I feel happy and relaxed (oh, and really tan).  Maybe it’s from growing up in San Diego.  I remember wading in the ocean during family picnics at the beach every summer.  Or, how I would float lazily in my friend’s pool, talking about boys while soaking up some much needed Vitamin D. :)  Aaah, good times…

Now it’s about meeting up with the Girls and enjoying a night of networking!  This $9.00 Hawaiian-inspired blouse from 1/2 of 1/2 (complete with shell accents) was exactly what I needed for a luau themed event with the North Texas Chamber.  Check out my pals Lynn, Misty, Erin and Laura above – aren’t they gorgeous? :)  Lots of food, fun and met some friendly new faces!  Then I stopped by Laura Morlando’s “Stress Commando Spa Night” for some beauty/style tips and a small amount of retail therapy.  Just a few bits and baubles…

OK, if I can look like Ms. Morlando using BeautiControl instead of Photoshop, I might have to invest!  What types of beauty products do you swear by? 🙂

What other combination is your summer favorite?

Metal Mania!

Author: msmona  //  Category: Tips

I admit it – I’m a total 80’s Girl! :)  I used to wear those tight jean shorts covered with distressed holes (strategically placed, of course), neon tie-dyed T’s, and inconceivably coiffed hair, courtesy of my highly toxic can of Aqua Net.  But one of my favorite embellishments was metal!

When I saw this leopard printed mini skirt for $9.00, as well as the black International Concepts shirt, I immediately loved the blend of old school metal with the current style.  I had originally seen the INC shirt at Macy’s for around $70.00, so finding both of these deals at 1/2 of 1/2 just made complete $en$e. 🙂

I wore the skirt to a Christian Women’s meeting and the shirt to a North Texas Chamber event.  If you had a few rad metal pieces in your wardrobe, OMG, where would you wear them?

Arcadia Tote Bag

Author: msmona  //  Category: Tips

Oooh, shiny!  I just love patent leather accessories – check out this new beauty!

Arcadia is an Italian patent leather brand you can often find on Ebay, as well as some discount stores around town for around $200.00-$250.00.  It’s not easy to find a large inexpensive tote with feet, let alone an Arcadia, so I was thrilled to spy this gorgeous bag at one of my new favorite stores, Clothes Mentor in Plano.  Did I mention it was only $18.00?!  OMG! 🙂

What makes this shop unique is that they pay for gently used clothes and accessories on-the-spot, instead of waiting as the consignment stores do.  It’s also geared toward women, not teenage girls, which makes their inventory a little more desirable for some of us gals! 🙂

What type of resale/consignment stores do you have in your area?
