Nothing But Networking

Author: msmona  //  Category: Tips

Another afternoon lunching and networking with the ladies!  I had a blast being with gals I don’t get to hang with as often as I’d like – Mischell and Dione, it was so great seeing you! 🙂

Remember when I said I always look for black and brown in my leopard print?  Well, this JC Penney pencil skirt (clearance find, of course) made me think again! :)  The gray has a pretty blue tint in it, cooling it down so the black accents pop a little more.  And look how totally cute the pleats embellish the back!  My $12.00 Tahari heels were a fabulous leather buy at 1/2 of 1/2.

What special purchase have you made at the start of this summer season?

Pretty in Parisian

To this fabulously feminine Parisian pattern I say:  je t’aime! :)  (click on the photo above to see it close up)

What could I love as much as this black mini covered in adorable swirls of ribbon?  How about the $9.99 price tag, originally marked $50.00?! :)  And the matching, deep discounted, peep toe pump just makes me want to sing out, “Ooh La La!”

Thank you to my eWN friends, Rashmi and Laura, for attending our Women In Leadership luncheon!  My sweet Debbie, sales guru extraordinaire, hearing you speak is always inspiring!  THANK YOU for a great presentation!

Zippin’ Around Town

Author: msmona  //  Category: Tips

This week I attended a wonderful evening of networking with the RCC’s Women in Leadership!  It was great meeting new faces and getting to know my fellow committee members in such a whimsical atmosphere – Beyond the Door was a terrific host, providing enough food and wine to keep our hungry shoppers satisfied. 🙂

80’s Glam Rock is another one of my favorite fashion eras, so when I found this cooool INC drop waist zipper dress at 1/2 of 1/2, I danced in the aisle!  I remember seeing it on a Macy’s clearance rack, but this deal was literally pennies in comparison. :)  With my black studded Steve Madden Luxe sandals securely zipped to my feet, I was ready to play the night away!

Where was the last time you met the Girls for a little networking time?

SOAP BOX subject: Size IS Everything

Author: msmona  //  Category: Tips

What is it with women who refuse to wear, or even try on, different sizes?  I’ve worn each one listed above and still have a healthy relationship with my closet!  *SIGH*

While statistics show the average woman is a size 14, we’re bombarded daily with images of magazine models and store mannequins wearing what I haven’t seen since elementary school.  Could that be the reason some stick with specific fashion lines, to keep within their comfort zone?  Is that why racks are passed by, to avoid looking at a larger size than what they’re used to buying?  Hmm…

I believe it may be more about Attitude than what the tag says.  Not only does sizing vary between manufacturers, but also the way each piece is measured and stitched together.  And don’t EVEN get me started on finding the wrong size tag clipped to the incorrect item.  Ugh!  So, if you’ve fallen in love with that adorable, slightly snug size 12 summer dress, keep trying until you’ve found the one that fits most comfortably and fulfills its purpose – business professional or casually chic.  No fear, no worries! 🙂

Most importantly, see the Doc and be the healthiest woman you are meant to be!  Know you are amazing and beautiful in whatever size you choose to wear. 🙂

Black, Blue and a Lacy Shoe

Author: msmona  //  Category: Tips

Do I look like a giant bruise? 🙂

I’ve never cared much for combining navy blue and black until I saw this lovely Lane Bryant blouse at my favorite 1/2 of 1/2 store.  I knew I could wear it with a basic black pant, but then I found this satin stretch skirt at TJ Maxx for $7.00 and couldn’t pass up a bargain!  The clearance shoe that brought this outfit together?  A lace pump with layered grosgrain ribbon bows on the back.  Yea DSW – I LOVE them!

*Many thanks to my girlfriends who created WEBB: Women Engaged in Building Business.  It’s an incredible FREE networking group in Plano that meets on the first Wednesday of each month.  If you’re interested in learning more, contact (left to right after MM) Cindy, Brenda or Minette. 🙂

What was the last item of clothing you purchased after initially saying, “No”?
