Happy Valentine’s Day!

LOVE was definitely in the air at this month’s Bunco Night!  Our hostess, Karen, made the food and friendship tons of fun!

My heart was aflutter with all the compliments about my costume. 🙂 A simple $2.00 red T-shirt from Walmart and little black lace skirt were the base for themed accessories.  Wanna know a secret about these super cute thigh-hi’s?  Just snipped off the legs of a pair of tights and…Voilà!  I added several yards of tulle to my $4.00 Buffalo Exchange velvet top hat, and the red feather wings made this Cupid feel like flying!

Thanks Karen, and to my sweet friend, Lynn, for inviting me to sub at Bunco Night! 🙂

Es Sobre El Mo (It’s About The Mo)

Author: msmona  //  Category: Tips

Sometimes it has to be all about you!  Confidence is key, especially when I’m out marketing our photography business around town.  Photography is fun, colorful and creative, so I often try to reveal my passion for this art form through wardrobe style. 🙂

Completely enthralled with this red furry Macy’s jacket (only $31.70 with a coupon and huge discount) and my very fav ripped jeans from Target!  Did you notice the crazy cute $5.00 clearance T from Walmart?  “SELF LOVE” is imperative for a happy and successful life.  I admit it – I do love Me, but I absolutely adore each of these amazing ladies! 🙂 Being around them is so uplifting and such a blessing!

First it was Cookie Monster, and now ELMO! 🙂 Are there any other fuzzy Sesame Street characters I should take my fashion cues from?!   He he he!

Family Time in Texas

Author: msmona  //  Category: Tips

Aah, starting out the year right hanging with my sweet niece, Brianna!  Isn’t she so gorgeous? 🙂 And look at the cutest gift she brought me from Disneyland: PINK MINNIE MOUSE EARS!  Oh my gosh, I’m in LOVE!

Bri stays cool in this casual knit top and leggings from Nordstrom while we visited The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in Downtown Dallas.  MsMona’s sequined t-shirt ($5.00 at Macy’s), liquid leggings and $15.00 pleather vest (JC Penney) were just enough during an unseasonably warm winter evening.  We also enjoyed walking (Bri in her Steve Madden’s and me in my $5.99 Old Navy boots) over to dine at Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant, Five Sixty, atop Reunion Tower – its rotating sphere makes the view even more spectacular! 🙂 If you haven’t experienced either of these places, I highly recommend them during your next stop in North Texas.

Family time always seems to fly by too fast.  It’s like Bri was just arriving when the hour came to take her back to the airport.  Ugh, I miss her so much already, but we’re looking forward to our next visit in her hood – shopping, Mexican food, and more tattoos! 🙂 XOXO, my beautiful Baby Girl!

Ain’t Scared of Stripes!

Author: msmona  //  Category: Tips

I totally understand:   Stripes can make us look short.

Newsflash – at 5 feet tall, I AM short! 🙂

Doesn’t matter to me, STRIPES ROCK!  When I saw these adorable dresses, the colors are what caught my eye.  They both screamed “Girlie” (pink/gray I.N.C.) and “Fun” (multi Old Navy), so with each barely being out of the single digits, how could I say no?!  Simple black Walmart accessories were the warmer additions, while the hot pink “Team Naughty” 🙂 holiday pin on my beanie, well that just made me giggle…

As if you couldn’t tell already, I’ve always been a fashion rebel.  What other styles or patterns do you love, but are considered no-no’s by the Style Gods?

Putting The “Guy” in Argyle

Author: msmona  //  Category: Tips

The Husband is a former military man – government issued uniform, cap and boots = wardrobe complete.  So today, he is content with a few pairs of nice jeans and some collared shirts for work.  I, however, prefer to have a variety of items on hand for him to choose from, especially during these upcoming winter months of layering for the office. 🙂

He first approved the classic argyle pattern in his socks – a subtle touch of style, visible only while sitting down.  The Wife knew he would look awesome in the more gentlemanly argyle patterns, avoiding a too preppy or trendy look.  New objective: find $3.00-$10.00 sweaters and vests to add to his closet.  Soon, this “Guy’s Guy” was hearing compliments from his co-workers about his rather dapper appearance. 🙂

The Husband is happy when he looks in the mirror AND his wallet.

The Wife SMILES…mission accomplished. 🙂
